
Mentor Chippewa provides scholarship opportunities for students who have been involved as a mentee in the mentor program for at least one year during their K-12 academic career to further their education and training after high school. Awards are competitive and based on dollars available to grant out of the Mentor Chippewa Scholarship Fund in care of the Community Foundation of Chippewa County. Scholarship opportunities include:
- Carol Gienapp – Memorial Scholarship, named in memory of Carol Gienapp, the first Director of the mentor program.
- Alice Hagen Scholarship, named in honor of Alice Hagen, a Chippewa Falls graduate and long-time supporter of the mentor program.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
- New Applicant: Open to all current high school seniors on track to graduate, past graduates, or those who will/have earned a GED
- Renewing Applicant: Eligible to reapply for the scholarship opportunity up to 3-years after high school graduation or until age 22
- Applicants must have been mentored through the mentor program for at least one year during their K-12 academic career
- Complete the online application form in its entirety. Applications are available on the Mentor Chippewa website https://mentorchippewa.org/scholarship/
- Submit two letters of recommendation from adult (non-family members) references.
- Letter of recommendation should clearly identify:
- student applicant’s first + last name
- relationship the reference has to the student applicant (mentor, teacher, employer, clergy member, neighbor, or another adult)
- should speak to the student applicants character, commitment, and potential for success in their chosen academic area of interest

SELECTION:
The Mentor Chippewa Board of Directors will choose the award recipient(s) from those who have submitted completed application materials as outlined in the eligibility criteria above.
This is a renewable scholarship. Priority will be given to those who have not received a scholarship in the past. Students who applied for but did not receive a scholarship are encouraged to reapply.
SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: UP TO $500
- The award check will be made payable to the 2- or 4-year school or institution issuing your certificate program in which the recipient is enrolled.
- Scholarship checks will be valid for 90 days.
- If awarded, scholarship checks will be mailed directly to your 2- or 4-year school, or institution issuing your certificate program’s financial aid office upon Mentor Chippewa’s receipt of a copy of your current year/semester transcript to verify proof of enrollment. Checks will be issued pending you meet the minimum requirements: submit your transcript; maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA.
